Jasprit Bumrah, an Indian cricketer representing the national team, is recognized for his exceptional skills as a right-arm fast bowler. He is esteemed as one of the premier bowlers globally and is considered among the finest fast bowlers ever produced by India. Bumrah competes for Gujarat in domestic cricket and represents Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Bumrah, born on 6 December 1993 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, comes from a Sikh Punjabi family. His father, Jasbir Singh, was in the chemical business, and his mother, Daljeet Bumrah, was a school teacher.

Raised by his mother, along with his sister Juhika, in a middle-class setting in Ahmedabad, Bumrah attended Nirman High School in Vastrapur, where his mother served as the vice principal. In 2016, Bumrah started his international career by making his ODI debut against Australia, where he took his first international wicket by dismissing Steve Smith. He also made his T20I debut in the same series, taking his first T20I wicket by dismissing David Warner. Bumrah was the highest wicket-taker in the T20I series against Australia.
He continued to perform well in other series and tournaments, such as the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 and India’s tour of Zimbabwe in 2016. In 2017, during England’s tour of India, Bumrah was awarded the Player of the Match in the second T20I for his performance.
In November 2017, Bumrah was selected for India’s Test squad for the series against South Africa.[34] He marked his Test debut against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town on 5 January 2018.[35] During the third match of the series in Johannesburg, Bumrah achieved his first five-wicket haul in Tests, with figures of 5/54 from 18.5 overs.
Despite his efforts, South Africa emerged victorious in the series with a 2–1 win. Bumrah ended up as the second highest wicket-taker for India, just behind teammate Mohammed Shami.
