Jasprit Bumrah, an Indian cricketer representing the national team, is recognized for his exceptional skills as a right-arm fast bowler. Early life Of Jasprit Bumrah

 Bumrah, born on 6 December 1993 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, comes from a Sikh Punjabi family. His father, Jasbir Singh, was in the chemical business, and his mother, Daljeet Bumrah, was a school teacher.

Unfortunately, his father passed away when he was just 5 years old due to hepatitis B. Raised by his mother, along with his sister Juhika, in a middle-class setting in Ahmedabad, Bumrah attended Nirman High School in Vastrapur, where his mother served as the vice principal. Ipl career of Jasprit Bumrah

  • Back in the 2013–14 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season, John Wright, the head coach of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at that time, was highly impressed by Bumrah’s performance. He extended an invitation to Bumrah to join the franchise, and the rest is history.
  • Bumrah has been a key player for Mumbai Indians since 2013, contributing to their title wins in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. With 165 wickets in 133 matches at an average of 22.51 and an economy rate of 7.30, Bumrah stands as the second-highest wicket-taker for the team, just behind Lasith Malinga. He has also achieved two five-wicket hauls and four four-wicket hauls in the league.
  • Bumrah marked his IPL debut at the young age of 19, delivering impressive figures of 3/32 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Despite Virat Kohli hitting him for three fours in his initial four deliveries, Bumrah managed to dismiss him on the fifth ball, with Kohli scoring 24 runs and Bumrah securing his first IPL wicket.
  • Although he was benched for the rest of the season, he did get a chance to play in a match against the Delhi Daredevils, where he unfortunately did not take any wickets. Despite only featuring in two matches during the 2013 season, Mumbai Indians decided to retain him for the 2014 season. Bumrah, however, went wicketless in his first two matches of the 2014 season.
  • In the game against RCB, Bumrah got two wickets for 22 runs, including AB de Villiers. It was his best bowling of the season. He played in 11 out of 15 matches for Mumbai, taking five wickets with an economy rate of 7.58. MI kept Bumrah for the 2015 IPL.   • Bumrah got four 3-wicket hauls and was the second-highest wicket-taker for Mumbai with fifteen wickets. His best performance was against Delhi Daredevils, taking three wickets for thirteen runs.   • Bumrah defended 12 runs in a super over against Gujarat Lions and finished with figures of 3/7 against Kolkata Knight Riders. In the final against Rising Pune Supergiant, he took two wickets, including MS Dhoni’s, helping Mumbai win the trophy.
  • Sachin Tendulkar praised Bumrah as the best bowler in the world after his performance in the 2019 IPL Final. Bumrah started the 2018 IPL with one dismissal against Chennai Super Kings and his best performance was against Kings XI Punjab, taking 3 wickets for 15 runs.

 

International career of Jasprit Bumrah

In 2016, Bumrah started his international career by making his ODI debut against Australia, where he took his first international wicket by dismissing Steve Smith. He also made his T20I debut in the same series, taking his first T20I wicket by dismissing David Warner. Bumrah was the highest wicket-taker in the T20I series against Australia.

He continued to perform well in other series and tournaments, such as the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 and India’s tour of Zimbabwe in 2016. In 2017, during England’s tour of India, Bumrah was awarded the Player of the Match in the second T20I for his performance.

2018–2019: Test debut and World Cup

In November 2017, Bumrah was selected for India’s Test squad for the series against South Africa.[34] He marked his Test debut against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town on 5 January 2018.[35] During the third match of the series in Johannesburg, Bumrah achieved his first five-wicket haul in Tests, with figures of 5/54 from 18.5 overs.

Despite his efforts, South Africa emerged victorious in the series with a 2–1 win. Bumrah ended up as the second highest wicket-taker for India, just behind teammate Mohammed Shami.

Bumrah got married to model and presenter Sanjana Ganesan in Goa on March 15, 2021. Ganesan, originally from Pune, Maharashtra, Sanjana Ganesan is an Indian sports journalist, anchor and broadcaster of cricket matches.
