Controversy Over the Stolen Diary: Legal and Personal Impact

In 2020, a personal diary belonging to Biden was stolen and later sold to Project Veritas, a far-right group known for controversial investigative activities. In 2022, two Florida residents admitted in federal court to stealing the diary and other personal belongings, transporting them across state lines, and selling them to Project Veritas. As a result, in April 2024, Aimee Harris received a one-month prison sentence, to be served starting in July, followed by three months of home confinement. The sentencing for her co-defendant, Robert Kurlander, is pending. Biden acknowledged that the diary was indeed hers but criticized how her writings were misrepresented and distorted.
