A Determinate Childhood
Vinay Narwal showed a strong interest in the military at a young age. According to his grandfather Hawa Singh, Vinay’s aspirations were shaped by his insatiable curiosity about military vehicles and the armed forces. Raised in Karnal, Haryana, he was a standout student who went on to earn a B.Tech degree from SRM University in Sonipat after completing his further education in Delhi.
Way to Join the Navy
Vinay’s journey to the Indian Navy was characterized by perseverance and diligence. Despite early setbacks, he passed the demanding Services Selection Board (SSB) tests and the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam, which assesses an officer candidate’s psychological and physical preparedness. . His efforts paid off when he joined the Navy as a Second Lieutenant, and within 18 months, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

Although Vinay’s Navy career was just getting started, he was already leaving his mark. He had been posted in Kochi, Kerala, and represented devotion and hard work.
