Nag Ashwin Reddy was born into a Telugu family in born on April 23, 1988 Hyderabad, Telangana to parents Jayaram and Jayanthi Reddy, both of whom are medical professionals. He has a younger sister named Nikhila Reddy, who also pursued a career in medicine. His maternal roots can be traced back to Visakhapatnam. Nag Ashwin Reddy received his education at The Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet, Hyderabad, Telangana, and obtained his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Subsequently, he pursued a Film Direction course at the New York Film Academy. Interestingly, he is a relative of D. Nageshwara Reddy, the esteemed founder of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG).

Nag Ashwin Reddy started his professional journey as an assistant director for the movie Nenu Meeku Telusa?.Following that, he worked as an assistant director to Sekhar Kammula in Leader (2010) and Life Is Beautiful (2012), while also playing minor roles in all three films.Debut and critical acclaim.
He made his directorial debut with Yevade Subramanyam (2015), which received a mix of positive and negative reviews.
However, it became a sleeper-hit and developed a dedicated fan base after its release. In May 2016, he announced his next project, a biopic on the renowned Indian actress, Savitri, titled Mahanati. He dedicated six months to extensive research on her life.

In February 2020, an announcement was made regarding his upcoming project, a science fiction action film, titled Project K, in collaboration with Vyjayanthi Movies. However, the production faced a setback of one year due to the COVIDa-19 pandemic. Filming commenced in July 2021, with an impressive futuristic set constructed at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. With a staggering budget of ₹ 600 crore, it stands as one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. Prabhas was chosen as the lead actor, and subsequently, Deepika Padukone was cast opposite him. In October, it was confirmed that Amitabh Bachchan would be playing a significant role in the film. Disha Patani joined the cast in May 2022, and in June 2023, Kamal Haasan was also confirmed to be a part of the project. The film’s music was composed by Santhosh Narayanan, and Djordje Stojiljkovic handled the cinematography. Initially scheduled for release on 9 May 2024, the film’s release date was later shifted to 27 June 2024 due to state and central elections in India.

In December of 2015, Nag Ashwin tied the knot with Priyanka Dutt, the younger daughter of producer C. Aswani Dutt from Vyjayanthi Movies. They are now proud parents to a son named Rishi.
